| Ouch. Point taken.
I realized there was a bit of hypocrisy in the post, so removed the signature. You weren't supposed to notice!
Actually, the shirts are done and available on cafe press at www.cafepress.com/bulldogtees and have been for some time. Just didn't turn out as well as I had hoped, so decided not to promote 'em (design needs to be bigger). Maybe I'll revise them a bit. They'd be decent enough for Iowa game (design is my avatar). Cafepress does stuff one-off, so no overhead.
Still stand by the post. Media guides aren't always available at the start of the season. Especially for the minor sports. The alumni directory wasn't delivered until about a year after it was promised. The school will try to blame that on the company hired to produce it, but it's the Drake name that's on it.
Don't get me wrong. I want Drake to be successful. I had great fun watching the success of last year's team. And I'd like to see that success continue. But it seems to me, that last season may have been lightning in a bottle. Just some bizarre alignment of the planets. I hope that's not true, but...
There's a lot of talent returning to the squad this year, so I expect a solid season. I would be surprised if the team is picked any higher than third though. If Drake expects to have success following this season, it will have to go beyond its standard committment to mediocrity. Drake's 30-year drought from the NCAA tournament spanned around eight coaches, more than a few athletic directors and how many student-athletes? The one common element through the whole thing is Drake.
Little things are important. Like meeting deadlines.
I'll be purchasing a DVD once the reviews are out. And yes, I'll be pissed if they are sold out.
End of rant. Go Dawgs!

| Just razz'n ya a bit Pub.
It was a lot easier for me to get peaved before last season .. winning mellowed me a out a bit. Let's be honest though, look at the staff Drake has and look at the staff state schools have. If Drake had all the tax payer coin, it would be a hellva lot easier to get a lot of things done. I really believe Drake gets a big arsch bang for the buck with what we have. Ironically, you said the t shirt didn't turn out as well as you wanted .. I know for a fact that same thing happened with the DVD and they spent a significant amount of money to have redone. |

| Cool. Razzin' taken with the appropriate amount of good humor and humility.
Seems like at least one person has the DVD. Reviews?
Off topic idea:
Video for opening of the season. Have a couple of the guys cruising through the Des Moines hot spots in convertiable Lincoln Continental w/suicide doors ala Entourage. Have 'em end up at the Knapp Center.
Have Jeremy Piven emcee the banner raising ceremony.

| Ha! I am a sucker.
Anyway, onto Piven. I know he didn't graduate from Drake and transferrred to NYU or something. Know the players were hoping he would show at the NCAA tournament game.
More details on the Piven/Drake feud, please! Might be time to bury the hatchet!
Is there such thing as an ex-fraternity brother, asks the non-greek? I thought those kind of things were for life.

| I have an update....
This is b.s. and I'm not sure there ever was a DVD in the works. The D has been stringing us along all summer for some reason. Or maybe there is a DVD but it's going to be $50 and require a donation to the school or buy a parking pass or something. Or maybe the video has been produced as a laserdisc and since no one has a laserdisc player, Drake will offer them for sale for $800. so then after you spend $850 for the disc and player, plus your donation, you'll get them, but find out that it's actually footage from the 2003-2004 season. If you want 2007-2008 footage, that'll be another 2 grand, plus a promise to enroll your first born at the university. |
