| He sounds like several of the other recruits: "Perimeter player who can drive off screens/curls and make shots from the outside. Comfortable behind the arc; challenge will be expanding his game to become a more versatile offensive weapon. Size is tremendous."
You wonder if Hawley's commitment takes someone like this off the table.
Let Josh Parker play! |

| Phelps is definitely going after some bigger guards. I wonder how much of that is because Phelps is actively looking for bigger guards, and how much of that is because Drake's success last year means they're finally getting some attention from guys with talent and size.

| New article on Rivals tonight.
link - http://rivalshoops.rivals.com/content.asp?highlight=drake&CID=854347
"It's no secret that Cadillac's Ben Simons is being heavily recruited .... I spoke to Simons' AAU coaches tonight, including assistant Jim Zuidema and head coach Jayson Martin, as well as some others who are close to the situation.
According to Zuidema and Martin, Simons has narrowed his list. Simons has offers from Utah, Nebraska, and Baylor. All three have been eliminated from consideration.
"Simons are a close family who regularly attend all of their childrens' sporting events. I have to believe distance was the issue," stated Martin.
The current list of offers who Ben is still open to include Drake, Providence, Western Michigan, Central Michigan, and Wisconsin Green Bay. Wake Forest was going to come in to look at Ben, but canceled when they filled Ben's spot on their roster. The obvious question, who is in the lead for Simons?"
Neither coach would say outright, but what they did say was this. "Ben's parents have been involved in college basketball, and know the game. They know the people in it, and they aren't going to fall for people feeding them what they think they want to hear."
This article comes from D. Burgardt, a writer for BroncoBlitz which is a Rivals Network page for Western Michigan. The article is kind of slanted toward Western Michigan with a lot of speculation and "assumption" but overall the author did a pretty good job. |

| | Sounds like his best offers are those outside of Michigan. At Providence his family would never be able to see him play. Drake and Wisconsin Geen Bay are at least at a distance which woul enable them to see weekend games. Drake would certainly appear to be the better offer. |

| He sounds like the kind of player who would do very well in Phelps' system....hope he comes to Drake. He'll definitely get a great education and a good college experience, too.
