Knuth is playing in the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association game tonight in Oshkosh.

I'll be at the MoKan game (KC area all-stars) next Thursday at SM North. Matt Acree will be playing.

Acree (pronounced A' kree) moves well enough, but needs to develop more upper body strength.

This game was apparently for those who did not get scholarships at BCS schools. I don't know if there's a KC game for the prime horse flesh anymore.

The rosters were dominated by players committed to D-II schools. Nebraska-Omaha had some of its best recruits out there.

'Saw Drake alum Tenny Dewey, who is still coaching h.s. ball in the area.

Dan Hohenstein from Wheaton Warrenville South? 6-6, 215 is pretty big.

I agree . The staff has worked hard and did a great job recruiting athletes from a wide geographic spread.
Now hopefully with games against teams like Lehigh and Marist (and maybe some future Ivy League competition ) recruiting conduits will be developed for talented scholar -athletes from the East Coast

The Bulldogs have recruited hard at Wheaton Warrenville South. There's a rumor that WR Mack Tracey has switched his commitment from Southern Illinois to Drake. Tracey played quarterback until injuring his shoulder...in fact, he has played many positions.

Physically, he sounds like someone coaches would play behind Tyler Morehead. Or maybe he steps right into Cale Hunt's old position...

just curious...why are not all of the Drake players listed on scout.com. I do not follow the recruiting websites much, so it may be something simple I just do not know about.

Two reasons that I know of:

1. Scout does not cover every high school player in the country.

2. Players don't sign letters-of-intent with Drake, so there is no official list released by the school.

Curious how he was 5'7". 150lbs. at the '09 combine with 4.73 40 and Scout has him at 5'9" 165lbs. and a 4.4 40. I hope the latter is closer to real.

True 4 B's and a C is not bad in my book and that would keep you off.

Don't get me wrong. I think Pike, Morse, and Bilton are great assets to this team.

I feel that way about anyone who is struggling after the first semester while putting in the time commitment that football demands. Mike P., as I understand it, is now a fourth semester student.

What make you say that about Trey? He went to a catholic H.S. so I do think he will be fine.

Matthews' playing time last fall was limited by a hamstring injury. Consequently, his stats aren't impressive. He did start on a good team that played a high level of competition.

Speaking of running backs from Texas, I'm worried about Trey Morse. From the PFL's academic press release, it appears his grades were below a 3.0 for his first semester. Perhaps, like Shawn Rodgers, he can turn things around. But I'm not optimistic that he will play four years at Drake, much less get his degree.

Recruits are always promised the chance to compete for a position. Teams recruit players that have the potential to play positions where the roster is a little thin. The emphasis here is on the "promise for a chance to compete" not "we promise you will get playing time at this position first year out". Now how the recruit and his family hear and interpret this promise, well that's another thing.

Graduation has left only 2 TE's on the roster I believe, so playing time for a new freshman might not be out of the question
