Hopefully the link works:

A few interesting things in this article:

1. Justin Ohl is coming back according to Keno, which would make sense since he is not going to Providence and has not been rumored to be going anywhere else

2. Keno offered Dr. Tom an assistant job and he said that Dr. Tom "thought he was joking," which I find difficult to believe

3. The story about Emmenecker going to Europe was reported

4. Phelps said he will announce his staff "real soon"

Nothing seemed to be a real blockbuster story here. The closest to it would be that Dr. Tom has been offered an assistant job at Providence, but that's not really news. This "thought he was joking" comment is not believable to me.

If Dr. Tom is actually being pushed out as I have theorized, Keno is doing what he can to combat it by slyly suggesting that this opportunity is out there. If Dr. Tom actually wants to stay and the athletic department wants him to go, the only way to fight back is through the media to get the Dr. Tom fans on Hatfield-Clubb's back. If Dr. Tom actually wants to go, this will help cushion the blow when he is announced as an assistant in a couple of weeks.

Can we put an end to this "Dr. Tom being pushed out at Drake" crap?

Dr. Tom's job last year was nothing more than a bone thrown his way after he left coaching. His leaving that job will have ZERO impact on the Drake athletic department. His not leaving that job will have ZERO impact on the Drake athletic department.

Dr. Tom is a good man and he did a marvelous job at Drake. But don't confuse the man with hard work. It's one of the reasons Iowa fired him. Just ask the good citizens of Monona, IA who perhaps could have seen him more during the Raef LaFraentz(sp) recruiting period.

I took the "thought he was joking" as ... "are you serious? .. I wouldn't be your asst coach at Providence for all the tea in China." "Love ya son but let's be real."

Dr. Tom job last year DID have an impact on major donors regardless of what people may think. Going forward, any such impact would lesson considerably because Keno is no longer here. I'm talking about the Champions Club - minimum $25,000. I nonetheless think it would be beneficial for both Drake and Dr. Tom to continue the relationship as Dr. Tom is still the biggest name at Drake and it gives him a "place" to occasionally hang out as he fades from memory. So while I think it would be mutually beneficial, I expect the relationship to wane after this summer's golf events, etc. as there is at least some minor ill will on both sides over the way the whole coaching change came down. Drake needs to overcome its current feelings and take the lead in continuing the relationship - something it is already doing in public but not behind the scenes. This was Drake's first taste of the way big-time basketball works today and they are still a bit shell-shocked by it all. Hopefully, this feeling will pass.

The Drake advisors job is Tom's as long as he wants it at this point. Sandy gets along with him and doesn't feel threatened.

He will stay and help with fundraising and whatever he can. As for Iowa dumping him for being lazy? Look what that got them. They would be happy to have the lazy coach back would be my guess.

Big Bull keeps the faith!!!

Agreed. The Dr is a great guy. He isn't going to make it a way of life but what he will bring to the table is great stuff. My only knock with the Dr is he didn't sub enough ... we needed more subb'n bye George! I hope he hangs for another decade, makes the rounds when need be, and helps with the chemistry of the athletic dept.
