| According to Rivals, Drake has offered Matt Vogrich, a 6-4 guard from Lake Forest Academy in Illinois. According to their list, Vogrich has offers from 6 BCS schools already.

| | This young man has received quite a bit of publicity the last few years here in Chicagoland. I am sure he is good with the kind of numbers he has put up, but his competition is very mediocre. He plays against very small schools in a private school league. Yes, I know Josh Young did, too, but I'm not sure of Josh's competition in high school. I'm sure Josh is much quicker, also. If Drake is serious about him, they will have to sell the kid on academics. Lake Forest Academy, and the schools in that conference, are all instituions of high academics. If Matt lives in Lake Forest, an upper/upper middle class suburb, he could have been better served athletically by attending Lake Forest High School, also a very good academic public school on Chicago's North Shore. It belongs to one of the strongest football/basketball conferences in the state, the North Suburban Conference. The NSC consists of Warren Township (who has a junior already committed to Illinois), a consistent basketball power; Zion-Benton, last year's second place finisher in state; Stevenson, the fourth place finisher in state in the '06-'07 season; Libertyville, Mundelein and Lake Zurich, who may be a factor in state this year. This would certainly prove his worth by playing in this conference and perhaps draw even more attention for him, if he is in fact that good. So, you can't tell a book by its cover. If he is, in fact, as good as they say, then, as I mentioned above, we have to do a sell on him regarding academics. I'm sure his parents will be looking at that quite strongly. If I recall reading, when Josh Young didn't get attention from Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, his parents went about looking for good academic fits. I'm sure Matt's family will do the same. |

| | Good post '67. When these kids play in the AAU circut in the summer months they go against the best of the best and this young man has stood out far and beyond. |

I'm not sure, Dog67, but I think Vogrich actually played for Lake Forest High, not Lake Forest Academy.....I got the LFA thing from Rivals, but when I googled articles from the Tribune, the stories all said LFHS.
For those who don't know, Lake Forest Academy is one of those high school/prep teams with players from all over the country, including several highly recruited players. I think they had two 7-footers last season. link

Why are you already awake at 11:07AM when your meds should keep you in slumber until at least 1300. |
