speaking of high school kids- i was reading college basketball preview magazine (by the way they dont give Drake or the MVC much love) and i noticed Harriosn Barnes of Ames is first team all america I am assuming drake has no shot since i have never seen his name mentioned on the board here- but it looks like he is still not commited anywhere. just wondering if you know where he is going? am in chicago so i never hear anything about iowa preps.
We had some discussion on Barnes several years ago, before he blew up on the national scene....

He is down to 6 schools.....Duke, North Carolina, Kansas, Oklahoma, UCLA and Iowa State. He is supposed to announce his decision on live national television (ESPNU) on November 12.
P.S. Not only is Barnes 1st-team AA, but several sites have him as the #1 player in the country. I've seen him play in the summer league out here; and he's an absolute stud. 6-7, can shoot from anywhere, great athlete, good ballhandler, great taking to the rack.....he has the whole package offensively.
As good as Barnes is, a lot of the "experts" say that Jok is much further along at the same age than Barnes was.

| Many schools have asst. coaches coming to watch Big Pete. Last night, Danny Manning from Kansas was there as well as assistant coaches from Iowa and Purdue. Iowa State and Illinois have been at games also ... along with others. I guess his mail box is stuffed to the gill on a daily basis. Screw 'em all Big Pete ... come to Drake !!!

Dau Jok is his brother. Dau signed with Penn in November.

I really appreciate the eloquent way in which you constructed this post. It is direct, and yet not so direct as to be obvious. The words are carefully chosen to evoke a sense of finality, but yet leave some questions unanswered. The lack of specificity regarding the date of termination draws the reader inward, compelling those with a curious nature to ponder the more meaningful question suggested by the previous quote.

| | Big tournament in KC this weekend. They were interviewing the guy who runs the local Mo-Kan team on the radio & he was talking about some of the guys playing. He said Jok is the #1 ranked 15 year old in the country. Pretty amazing that the state of Iowa has a chance to have the #1 ranked high school player twice in just a few years, Barnes & now Jok. |

He knows that if a player is good, dominant, and smart, a player can play anywhere and take it to the next level. He loves Des Moines, his friends, his family .... I'm tell'n ya all ... we got a great chance of landing this young man. I'm tell'n ya. I really believe that if Coach Phelps developes this current team chemistry that results in success, it will increase the chances of what is already looking really good as far as Jok in Drake Blue and White goes. He's a great kid too. Better and smarter than Barnes will ever be. I'm tell'n ya'll .. I'm tell'n ya. When the Roosevelt Rough Riders take to the court this coming season, I hope there will be plenty of Drake gear in the crowd.
