Has anybody heard confirmation that the Cap City League is a go? It usually starts in early to mid June, which is only a couple weeks away.

I think last year the first we heard about the CCL was when they drafted the players a few days before the first game.

Here's a link that Mecha provided last year for certified summer leagues.....so far, the Cap City League isn't listed.

Maybe Phelps doesn't want his guys playing any more. Could possibly screw them up when they get back to Drake & start playing his prevent offense.

I sure hope this hasn't been shelved. I think with all the new players it could really help for them to play against college competition.

The story the media had on Carlos Boozer stated that he was enrolled in summer classes and looking forward to playing with teammates in the summer league. Doesn't the ISU clan normally play in the Cap City league???

Yep....I'm guessing that we'll see the Cap City League listed on the NCAA web site soon....they're still updating it every few days.

What are the odds someone screwed up and didn't get the league certified again?

I honestly don't care if the league is certified or not.....as long as they have it.

Can the players participate in a league that isn't certified?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that 2-3 years ago, the Cap City League wasn't certified, but all the Drake and Iowa State guys still played.

Not sure if it was not certified or what but a few years there was some paper work not filled out on time and the only thing that changed was that no coaches could be present at the league games.

That's what I was referring to. If the league isn't certified, it might not matter much, but that could explain why it isn't listed on the NCAA's website. Hopefully there's still time to correct that if needed.

After doing some research, I found the June 11th, 2008 news release with the rosters and schedule for games to begin June 15th of last year.

It would seem they don't give out much information untill very close to the time for the first games.

I heard a rumor Iowa State pulled out due to the fact many of the players live out of State. Any truth to this? No sure how credible the source was that I heard it from.

I would doubt that very much as McDermott's policy has been to have all the players taking summer school. If the league occurs, and I expect it too, the ISU players will be there IMO. Only exception would likely be Staiger.

Yeah, it doesn't really matter where the players live....it's where they spend the summer.....and most college b-ball players spend their summer at their school.
