As noted previously on this forum Jonathan Cox was invited and played in the PIT averaging 5 PPG and 6 RPG in just 16.7 minutes of action.

Jeff Horner was picked up outside the D-League Draft over the summer by the Iowa Energy in their first year of existence. They were able to do that because Jeff Horner had ties to the state of Iowa. The Energy may or may not be interested in Cox, but if they are history suggests they could pick him up as early as this July.

One camp that is worth attending is the EuroBasket Summer League in Chicago which takes place June 29th to July 1st. Leonard Houston attended the ESL last summer.

Almost all European countries have their own country wide league. Top teams in each country league play in various levels of international play. The top league is EuroLeague and the level below that is EuroCup. Various teams also compete in the Baltic Basketball League and Adriatic League.

Each League has various rules about the amount of import players they allow on the roster. Some leagues even limit the amount of non domestic players allowed to be on the floor at the same time. In the UK it is my understanding that import players must have a 4 year degree (which works out well for Cox).

The top countries in terms of overall competition would be Greece, Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia, Israel, and France. Even some countries that don't first come to mind field some good teams. Andre Woolridge (University of Iowa) was on a good team in Cyprus just last season. Hurl Beechum (Iowa State) is a dominate outside shooter in the Czech Republic.

Fabricio Vay, formerly of the Iowa Energy, now plays for Arkadia in Austria. Vay scored 17.2 PPG and pulled down 6.6 rebounds leading his team to the Semi-Finals. Vay and Cox are both long and know how to score. They'd make interesting teammates.

James Hamilton (Iowa State)has played for the BBL in the UK for a long time. He's currently with the Cheshire "Big Storage" Jets. Hamilton is quite the celebrity in the UK. Cox could play a big role in the BBL.

So what jersey will Cox sport next season?

United Basketball League: Coming April 2010 to Urbandale, Iowa
