Mc Bulldog (2/2/2010) Yes .. I did both, registered and submitted and emailed it. If you go to the article now it seems that "urine smell" has blocked all the comments. None of them show up including DUBulldog's.I just figured out that if you click on Gutter's link, the comments don't come up at all. If you click on DUBulldog's link the comments do come up. Go figure, right?
Gutter's link and my link are to the same article in 2 different newspapers. The comments are specific to each newspaper's website.

| | the absurdity of Tate's suggestion aside, it makes excited that Big Ten people are upset to see Rice not going there...he has to have some game. |

| The article appears to be directed straight at Tate, even though he never mentions him. What I see missing in all of this is a consideration of what Rayvonte wants. There are big differences between a huge state school like Illinois and Drake, many of which weigh in Drake's favor. I wish this article had taken an approach geared more toward respecting Rayvonte and his confidantes to know what's best for Rayvonte than taking the general approach the writer took in saying a hometown star should not go to college in his hometown.
Tomorrow has arrived and the sun is up. |

| [quote]Mc Bulldog (2/2/2010) Here is another comment that urine smell didn't post in the comments section -
Dear Mr. Tate,
Thanks for the kind words about what a special player Rayvonte Rice is. We Drake fans can't wait to showcase him, along with two plus years of other stellar recruits (that in my estimation, will have Drake performing at a level higher than the majority of the Big Ten in 2-3 years from now).
Something strikes me about your article though. We live in a world of scandal. We criticize "kids" for incredulous lack of judgment that jeopardizes their athletic eligibility. How on earth will any of that ever change or improve when they are exposed to or guided by the unethical musings or "advice" of a "respected" sports columnist such as yourself?!?
If the NCAA wants to crackdown on recruiting violations…maybe looking at coaches is looking in the wrong direction. Maybe they ought to be looking at the grass-roots crap you are attempting to stir up in this article. I honestly can't believe some of this stuff that you are spinning off as advice…or in your insinuation (directed at Rayvonte) that he ought to be having second thoughts?!?!? Honestly??? Have you ever read an actual letter of intent? Do you know that once an athlete has signed, that they forfeit a year of eligibility if they don't complete their first year with the school they signed with? And to suggest that all he needs to do to avoid such a penalty is to claim that he'd like to be close to Mom??? That's not "hardship"….are you kidding me?
I am surprised. Surprised that someone of your tenure and experience can somehow justify such an adolescently immature suggestion that Rayvonte has somehow made an ill-advised choice. Commitment, and values, and fit….they mean something. Might you walk away from your wife because some flash-in-the-pan hottie told you she'd be "more fun"…and that you'd made a mistake by being committed to her??? Worse yet, find me a respected advisor that would tell you that you should! That's what you've done here.
I, for one, am so glad that Drake has done such a great job in recruiting a kid with the moral fortitude not to be phased by this ill-conceived attempt to get him to question his decision.
When I read or hear of Illini recruiting scandals…past, present, or future…I'll now always wonder what role you might have played in it.

Thanks...that one is mine. I also submitted it to their editorial department. They called me and said they were going to run it.
Just DU it !
