| I was in the car with a friend today and he was listening to KXNO (I know it is a sin for a Drake fan).
They actually had a story I found interesting. Apparently, Jamie Pollard told a fan that his opinion did not count due to the fact he was not a season ticket holder or a booster. According to Pollard, he was not a true fan since he did not donate money. The fan had previously wrote him a letter stating his discontent with the Iowa State basketball program and Pollard responded saying his opinion did not matter.
On the radio, they said the full story was on the KXNO website. I tried to look it up, but could not find it.

There's a 34-page (and growing fast) thread about this on cylconefanatic.com.....most of the ISU fans agree with Pollard.
The thread was started by our old buddy, SportsTalkMatt.

Looks like P'errault is about as popular with ISU fans as he is with DU fans. Honestly, in a battle between P'errault and Pollard, I'd side with Pollard too.

Perrault also has a post in that thread where he mentions a previous "history" between him and Pollard.....so, it looks like he's somehow pissed Pollard off in the past. Hard to believe that Matty P could piss anybody off.

While Pollard COULD have used more tact, I agree that if a person is going to threaten to never again buy tickets to a game or support ISU while McDermott is here, there should at least be proof he ever did in the first place. The person that wrote the email looks like a loser to me but I agree Pollard could have chosen a different road to go do with his response. But at the same time, I find it HILARIOUS that this dunce sent this to the media hoping it would make Pollard look terrible when it mostly makes this guy look stupid. |

Pollard SHOULD have used more tact. As an authority figure in a major athletic department, you should never put down a fan...no matter how dumb the email. Fans are what drive revenue.
And how does Pollard know the fan was not a donor anyway. When a group purchases tickets as a group at Drake it is under one name, not the full groups name. I imagine it is the same at ISU. Just because his computer does not have the fans name, does not mean the fan never bought tickets. Plus, you have to figure we all donate money to ISU (even if we do not want to donate) as it is a State school. |

It's unlikely that anyone else with a high level university position would be getting away with a response like this relative to the issue or department. Pollard is taking out his frustration on some letter writer because he doesn't want to look in the mirror and realize he's a big part of ISU's downward spiral--he wants to blame everything on people who don't buy season tickets.
