| Drake apparently wants to become a bigger institution with more students. My guess is that conflicts with the academics who believe that selectivity of the university means more prestige for them. Having said that it could also be that the Provost wanted the embezzler's boss fired and Davey wouldn't do it. It had to be a line drawn in the sand by one or the other. I find Davey's choice of language interesting..."not a college in crisis." Who said it was? Might there be some pressure around the edges? This comes on the heals of the D+ abortion, an unsettled mens basketball fan base and a capital campaign that is just ramping up...though my understanding is that you don't start a capital campaign until you are already half way to the goal. HMMMMM????
